Etsy Treasury - for Beginners!

1. Treasury - first, what the ?*!?? is it??

With Treasury you can curate your very own etsy art display!

Treasuries are basically lists of 12 etsy items, chosen by an etsy member (or sometimes by etsy Admin). They often have a theme, e.g. a color, subject, items from a particular team, but it's not compulsory - you can just use your favorites! Have a look at the current lists to get some ideas -

Treasuries are limited in number and usually last a couple of days before they expire.

There's a link to all Treasury lists on etsy's front page, under "explore", but the most exciting thing is that each day some of the current Treasuries are featured on etsy's front page - if you're featured, this usually means lots and lots of lovely views/hearts and maybe even sales!

2. How to tell if you are featured in a Treasury

If you scroll through the Treasury lists, you will see a yellow star next to a Treasury that you are featured in, a silver star next to a list where you are an alternate, and a blue star next to a list that you have curated yourself. that can take a while though, so here's a quicker way -
Enter your shop name here to see if your are featured in a current Treasury -

And you can check here to see if a Treasury you are in has made it to the front page!

3. How to actually make one!

The Treasury clock is a great tool as it tells you how long it will be before the Treasury will become available again -

If you are around when the Treasury is due to open, here's what to do -

You can make a Treasury when the number of current lists falls below 333. Go to the Treasury page and keep it open, and keep checking back until the the number of lists falls below 333. BUT - golden rule - DO NOT REFRESH THE PAGE!!

When the number of Treasuries falls below 333 you will see a box appear at the bottom of the page (as if by magic lol) - you type your Treasury title there and press enter and - taa-daa! - your very own Treasury! You do have to be quick, so another tip is to type out your title before the Treasury opens and copy it, then just paste it into the box as soon as it appears!

All you have to do then is fill in the spaces with your selected items - you can choose 12 items which will appear on your main Treasury list, plus up to 4 alternates, which you can swap in later if you want (perhaps if one of the Treasury items sells).

4. Other useful info

It's generally accepted that you don't feature your own items in a Treasury, but select items from other shops to promote.

There is a second Treasury called Treasury West which is not linked from the front page. This works in exactly the same way, except you only have to wait until the there are less than 222 lists!

It's good karma to leave a comment if you find out that you are featured in a Treasury (you can also comment on other lists that you like of course!)

You can convo the shops you have featured to let them know that they are in a Treasury you have made.

If you want to ask anything I haven't covered (or if my explanation of something is as clear as mud!) please feel free and I'll try to answer!

Thanks Angie for such a clear explanation of what a Treasury is and for all your really helpful tips and tricks.

One thing that I use is Poster Sketch You have to bookmark it on your favourites so you can find it again, but it's a brilliant way of preparing a Treasury in advance. Sharon kindly passed on this little tool to me some time ago!

Wow Angie! Thanks so much for the fabulous explanation on snagging a Treasury! I honestly think you've covered it all.

The only other things I would add is to be careful that you only list one item from each shop, that way you stand a better chance of having your Treasury appear on the front page.

Oh also to add items to the little blank boxes when you get a Treasury you simply copy the item number (bottom right side bar of a listing page) and paste them into the box that appears when you click "edit".

Thanks again Angie, fabulous job!!♥
