Weekly Challenge - "Wonderland"

Weekly Challenge
Wonderland

Time to unleash your fantasies because the theme this week is "Wonderland"!

The obvious association might be "Alice in Wonderland" thanks to the new movie opening in March, which looks like it will prove to be a blockbuster. Always plenty of ideas to gather from that story!

Of course, never far from our minds in the Northern Hemisphere nowadays is "Winter Wonderland". Right now we are frozen solid!

Or make up something new and bring us into your very own fantastical visual story!

While thinking about this theme, I came across some quotes that say it best:

"If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?" ~ Alice

Alice laughed. "There's no use trying," she said: "one can't believe impossible things."
"I daresay you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." ~ from Through the Looking Glass

From wonder into wonder existence opens. ~ Lao Tzu

Alice: And how many hours a day did you do lessons?
The Mock Turtle: Ten hours the first day, nine the next, and so on.
Alice: What a curious plan!
The Gryphon: That's the reason they're called lessons, because they lessen from day to day. ~ from Alice in Wonderland

“Wondering's healthy. Broadens the mind. Opens you up to all sorts of stray thoughts and possibilities.” ~ Charles de Lint, Celtic folk musician and story teller

“Wonder is the beginning of wisdom” ~ Greek proverb

So what kind of impossible notions can you put down on canvas, paper, clay, metal, fiber, pixels, whatever medium you like to work in? All it has to do is make us wonder!! If we laugh out loud too, that's a bonus!

See the details for entering in the sidebar at the right.

i've followed a follower into this lovely wonderland of a site... we just watched the disney version of Alice's Adventures this weekend and I just happened to make a silly sketch while we watched... its hardly fodder for any sort of an entry, but i thought it a dubious thing, indeed!

happy new year!

I love this theme and I should actually have time to make something this week. Life has been too hectic, as of late. Time to breathe deeply and exhale slowly.

sorry just too cold not to do a Winter Wonderland, however the photo used was taken near my home so there is a tale of stuff and silliness around it...
