Weekly Challenge January 24

Broken Pieces
When you think of all the things that can be broken,
from hearts to cities, it's no wonder creative types
are always wanting to make something from the pieces.

tutorial here on collaging

This week's challenge to all you artistic souls out there:

What can you create from something that is

                    broken    torn    ripped
                  cracked   chipped
                               or fractured?

OR
You can draw or paint an image
of something broken

Find a tutorial HERE on creating a torn image in Photoshop

The rules are very relaxed here, in fact there are none!
Interpret it however, and in whatever medium, you like!

Such rules that there are only pertain to deadlines
and other boring stuff and are in the sidebar >>>>>>

A perk of entering the challenge every week:
For each entry, you receive one chance to win
the giveaway of the month. For January,
you can win a set of four headbands created
by our own Robin of Well of Creations!

So, what are you waiting for?
Go find something broken and upcycle it!
Happy creating!

Maggie...your post moved me. You have a way with words...

"When you think of all the things that can be broken, from hearts to cities,"

Beautiful...
and you know I will contribute to this challenge...you have stirred the muse and given her purpose.

Still working on my challenge, but I just had to comment on this again. I am always having to look at my mom's things before she throws them out. When she says, "oh you don't want that, it's broken", I know I better get over there before it goes in the trash. Now she saves her broken pieces of this and that for me and still shakes her head in wonderment.
I am here to tell you, my best things have been rescued before going to the curb! :)
Going to check out some of you early birds already!

I just stumbled upon your site and bookmarked it to come back and check it out further. I love the concept this week of creating art from something broken. I'll be thinking about how to interpret this one in what I do.
I am a painter and primarily paint antique windows, essentially upcycling them for a whole new purpose. I will definitely be back
