Feast your eyes . . .
on languid female figures
veiled in allegory and sensuality . . .
on the flowing lines, and whiplash curves.
Sinuous plantlike forms
and lavish organic subject matter.
Art was part of everyday life.
This week's theme is the “new art”,
Art Nouveau!
No object was too utilitarian to be “beautified”.
From jewelry to furniture to architecture and stained glass,
Art Nouveau style was used on many everyday objects
from 1890 until 1910.
No matter the medium you create in, Art Nouveau style can be applied.
Give it your own twist and interpretation and leave a link to your blog
where you've posted your own “art nouveau”.
Guidelines are in the sidebar if you haven't entered before.
See you back here where all the entries will be revealed next Sunday!
Happy creating!

This was quite the challenge as I couldn't quite pin down the definition of art nouveau. But, here's my take on the theme. past turns into future I think it loosely follows the organic design elements that dominated the style.
Stay inspired!
Very challenging, very fun, and my entry is about Noveau, a Halloween recap, and a shoutout to Stephanie/Dragonfly Studios, as I was the lucky recipient of her journal :-D Link is here:

OMG!! What a gorgeous doorway!! Where is that?
Cathy, that doorway is awesome, isn't it? There is an art nouveau district in Riga, Latvia...if you Google it, you will see tons of gorgeous photos. I thought that photo came from there, but now I can't see it in the mix. If you click each image in the post, it will take you to the spot where I got each photo. Some of them are from Etsy shops :)
Here is Wikipedia's article on Art Nouveau:

Also google Alphonse Mucha to see some amazing art nouveau posters!
Sorry my post was heavy on pictures and lacking more explanation of Art Nouveau!
This was a challenging theme for me (but that's the point, right?) but once I got going, it was really fun.

This is a great theme, Maggie. I live in and with this style of art, so it was a fun and really different challenge for me:
