I would like to introduce you to our co-host this week : Linda of Gemma's House. Here she describes herself :
Inspiration Avenue is a favorite blogging site of mine. I enjoy the challenges and the friendships here.
My name is Linda Manzo but my blog uses the name "gemma".
( that is what my grandchildren call me.)
my blog is at http://gemmashouse.blogspot. com
Right now I work full time managing an elementary school library, reading stories to students,
circulating library books and trying to keep the library in order, fun and interesting to the patrons.
I love Art.
In the future I hope to pursue art full time but for now I enjoy the IA and other art challenges on the web.
The challenge for this week :
HERE COMES THE SUN
We are at the half way point between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox.
I love the SUN and honor the many celebrations beckoning the return of the sun, and
preparing for the upcoming Spring.
For centuries Christians have celebrated this time with a celebration of lights
called Candlemas.
On the old Celtic calendar Imbolc is a celebration of the first signs of spring:
the melting of January snows, the first blooms, the heaviness of animals expecting birth.
It is a time of awakening, of new life, of new potential. A rebirth of light.
Also celebrated at this time St Brigid's feast Day:
Often the St. Brigid cross is made
Though a Christian symbol it possibly derives from the pagan sunwheel. It is usually made from rushes or, less often, straw.
It comprises a woven square in the centre and four radials tied at the ends. It is often hung in kitchens in Ireland.
I sincerely hope that you will be inspired by this theme.
What do these celebrations mean to you?
I am looking forward to visiting all of you and your entries.

Hello, and thank you Gemma and everyone here at I.A. ! (-: Up late, so here is my (earlybird) posting: http://craftydvl.blogspot.com/2012/02/inspiration-avenue-here-comes-sun.html
What a gorgeous theme! I was searching for a name for the painting I just completed, and the entire time I was working on it, I was thinking about fire and mysticism. Thank you so much for inspiring a name for my new piece! I used a new process that I've been studying for a little while: reverse painting and collage on plexiglass. I hope you'll like " Brighid's Flame."
Awesome theme - I am loving the guest challenges!
I am thrilled to follow you through Linky Followers and hope you'll reciprocate!
Have a fabulous week!

Just trying to see your sample for the Here Comes The Sun Challenge! Am I the only one who can't see the samples? I just see a white box with a little red cross in the corner.

Thank you Hettienne and Gemma's House for co-hosting the challenge this week! I am looking forward to all the beautiful submissions. I am really going to have to think about this one.
What a pleasure to co-host IA this week. Thanks Hettienne. Can't wait to see all the entries.

Oh, hello! I see it on there now. I think I just had a moment ( I refuse to specify whether it was a "senior" or a "blonde" moment).
Wonderful challenge, so inspirational! Keep creative! <3
It was fun seeing the preview bits this week. I plan to also add the Linky Followers to my site. I'm not a fan of Google, so I love that we now have a choice. Not sure if we are now supposed to also add our link here, but I'm going to, at least this first time:

Thanks go to Gemma for this challenge and Hettiene as her co-host.
I had a heck of a time figuring out Mr. Linky and then I think I linked twice. Hope to see everyone's entries this morning.
