Meet & Greet for Lisa Campbell

Please join us in welcoming Lisa to team Inspiration Avenue!

Let me introduce you to Lisa Campbell
She comes to Inspiration from Sunny
Albuquerque, New Mexico
_________________________________________
Hello, I’m Lisa. I’m a lifelong artist living in beautiful New Mexico with my husband of 27 years! I have a wonderful daughter that is engaged to be married next summer to a great guy. I have a beautiful life, and I’d like to share a bit of it with you in my blog. You’ll see some of my art too, because it is and always has been a huge part of my life.
Q: What draws your creativity?
A: I create mixed media/collage art pieces and jewelry. I cannot imagine my life without art. I must do it everyday. I love to cut, paste, spray, paint, EVERYTHING!! To me, creativity is the secret to joy :)

Here are some of her great art pieces:

You can find these in her Etsy Shop at:

Dragonfly Darlings Challenge

Many myths surround dragonflies, or damselflies.  One myth says they were once dragons in bygone eras.  The dragonfly site says they symbolize maturity and depth of character, power, poise and that they capture the essence of living in the moment.

How many ways can you find dragonflies as depicted in art, literature, textiles, myth or decoration, to name just a few?

Here are a few dragonfly artifacts I have come across, as symbolized on a garden tile:

or used as a utility hook:

as an intricately sewn pieces of embroidery (source: The Art of Annemieke Mein, Wildlife Artist in Textiles)
(122 x 122 cm, Sale Regional Arts Center)

and in art:

and in sparkling stained glass:

Join in the IA Challenge this week and show one of your favorite dragonfly images.  Link up below with your dragonfly so we can all join in the fun.  (Be sure to add your post URL, not your blog URL.)

Weekly Challenge ~ Wheels

The Wheels on the Bus
(and everywhere else)
The wheel is a simple machine, along with the
lever, pulley, inclined plane, wedge, and screw.
How much harder our lives would be without these machines!

Who invented the wheel is still a mystery,
nor is it known exactly when it was invented.
According to archaeologists, it was probably invented
around 8,000 B.C. in Asia. The oldest wheel known
was discovered in Mesopotamia and probably dates back to 3,500 B.C.

Other than the everyday items that come to mind when you think of
WHEELS
what about about all the other types of wheels?

Something artists use every day ~ the color wheel.

Happy and colorful ~ the pinwheel

has been incorporated into a quilt pattern

What fun would the fair be without the Ferris wheel!

A big part of the steampunk style ~ gears and wheels

A special type of firework is the Catherine wheel.

Create a wonderful wheel that exists only in your imagination!

Your task this week is to create something using
WHEELS

If your muse is just not feeling the wheels,
CIRCLES
are allowed too!!

Be back here with your creations by Sunday September 9 at noon.
(Guidelines are in the sidebar >>>)
Have fun!
