Weekly Challenge November 11 ~ Houses

Think of all the different types of houses we live in throughout the world!
From the grandest castle to the poorest hut nestled on a hillside
in a third world country, and everything in between . . .
too many to name or even know about.

Some people live close together in cities or villages.

Others are surrounded for miles by nature instead of other people.
If we're lucky, we live in the settings we find most comfortable.

But hopefully, your house is a refuge
where you can find comfort and sweet dreams!

“If I were asked to name the chief benefit of the house,
I should say:
the house shelters daydreaming,
the house protects the dreamer,
the house allows one to dream in peace.”
~ Gaston Bachelard

I'm thinking one additional sign is missing from this house:
“No Girls Allowed!”

(Ha! I'm sure the girls have their own treehouse with
curtains in the windows and flowers planted outside!
Altogether a much nicer place.)

And speaking of unwanted visitors . . .

Some houses are a bit unconventional,
but someone has to keep the light turned on
and so must be there all night long.

There are houses in fairy tales (usually inhabited by wicked witches)
that put terror in the hearts of little children.
Baba Yaga's house was one I never heard of as a kid.
A house that can run after you on gigantic chicken legs?
Sounds like my worst nightmare!

Here's a link to the story of Baba Yaga, in case
you haven't read enough Stephen King lately:

So what kind of house takes your fancy?
Show us either your own house, your fantasy house, or
any type of house that intrigues you or that you find pleasing.

So many to choose from: . . . igloos . . . teepees . . . haunted houses . . .
trailers . . . log cabins . . . dog houses . . . bird houses . . .
doll houses . . . apartment houses . . . cottages . . .
greenhouses . . . castles . . . ranches . . . house boats . . .
beach houses . . . farm houses . . . aaagh that's all I've got!

I'm sure you can think of more.

Leave your link below and link back
to Inspiration Avenue in your blog post.
Please have your entry in before noon
on Sunday, November 17 (est).

Thanks so much for playing!
We can't wait to see your House creations!

Lovely challenge this week. I've been on a houses kick lately so this was right up my alley.

A house on chicken legs - definitely made my morning!
