Inspiration Avenue Weekly Challenge-Change

This week's challenge is summed up in a single word-Change.   Lately, I've been going through some major life changes and this experience inspired me to create a challenge around it.   In selecting images for this I first turned to one of my favorite websites, Brainy Quote.  As always, I was not disappointed.  I've selected a few quotes to share, as well as some images I found that seemed to illustrate each quote.

All things must change to something new, to something strange.  Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve the beauty.  Maya Angelou

Change, like sunshine, can be a friend or a foe, a blessing or a curse, a dawn or a dusk.  William Arthur Ward

Our dilemma is that we hate change and love it at the same time; what we really want is for things to remain the same but get better.  Sydney J. Harris

Change in all things is sweet.  Aristotle

There is nothing permanent, except change.  Heraclitus

All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another.  Anatole France

We're inviting you to create art around the concept of change.  We're all going through changes in our lives.  Sometimes they're big, earth-shaking changes, and other times they are much less consequential.   Whether you are celebrating change, or dreading it, it's present in your experience.  Choose something meaningful to you that represents change in your life.  Link up your image with Mr. Linky, then leave a comment on this blog post before Sunday, March 2 at 12:00 noon EST.  Most important of all-enjoy yourself!  I'm excited about seeing your images.
Until then,
Lou Anne aka Misplaced Mermaid

Hearts and Trees Challenge

This week, the challenge is to conjure up any feeling of the connection between love, trees and yourself.. You may use any medium you wish. Digital, scrapbooking, painting, collage, baking, sewing, quilting, crochet, crayons, beading,  finger paint - anything...If you are new or coming back, the requirements are easy, simply place your artwork old or new on your blog and then enter your name and your url in the linky button. We will visit you and comment on your work.

Love is everywhere, especially so, in the forest, where magic lives and breathes new life regardless of the obstacles in her way. Have you ever carved your love in the bark of a tree? It remains there, forever.

There is something so very comforting and healing when we are close to trees. Have you ever experienced a oneness with the solitude of nature?

We share the wonders of the forest. We love the unity that binds us together.Have you ever kissed your sweetheart under the branches of a tree?

Sometimes when the leaves fall from the trees in the Autumn they remind me of hearts. Has that ever happened to you?

Of course not all beauty is rooted from the earth, many wonderful treats can be created in the kitchen. Have you ever created an impromtu cookie?

Whatever you create, old or new, please share it with us. Make the love go round and round.

Show and Tell Art Challenge

We haven't done a Show and Tell in a while,
so here's a call to Show us what you're working on.
Tell us a little bit about it too!

I've been working on many new things lately...
here's a journal page...I can't decide if it's finished or not!

Have you been making Valentines for your sweeties?

The big day is Friday!

Maybe your mind has taken a turn toward Spring.

Claude Monet

I can't wait to see the trees blossoming like this.

Winter has a different kind of beauty.
We went for a drive in the country and came upon this old church.

Do you remember Show and Tell from school days?
I'm sure it went better than this!

So! It's an easy challenge this week!
Something new-ish would be great, but if you have something
you did previously and haven't shared, that's great too.

Link your blog post to Inspiration Avenue
by Sunday February 16 at noon (est).
Leave a comment here if you like, and
don't forget to visit the other entrants' blogs
and leave a comment there also :-)

Have fun, we can't wait to see what you've been up to!

~ Maggie

Stained Glass This week on Inspiration Avenue

stained glass as beautiful as ever and now the creative touches put on to create the
"looks like stained glass" also

A bit of history

Why Do Churches Have Stained Glass Windows?

Answer

In ancient churches, Stained glass windows were the first public 'picture books' of the Bible. As far back as 350 A.D., churches used stained glass windows to visually tell Biblical stories about God, spirituality, mortality and humanity. As the art form and architecture evolved, windows became more prominent in the great cathedrals of Europe and today are still used in churches of all sizes and denominations throughout the world.
